Zach Benson, 25
Born and raised in Brockville, Ontario, Zachary Benson earned a full football scholarship to Bishop's University where he also completed his degree in Athletic Development. During the course of his academic career, Zach was promoted to Strength Coach for the Bishop's University Women's Rugby team in 2018. He also gained experience as a sports scientist, performing original research on instantaneous concentric velocity and female jump performance, as well as researching the power contributions to aerobic endurance performance.
In tandem, Zach started 4Life Fitness, a post-secondary preparation and athletic development company which incorporates physical/technical growth, nutritional advice, and tutoring. He was recognized as the highest revenue earner for Summer Company 2018 and continued with the LGSBEC for Starter Company Plus. Prior to this, Zach's entrepreneurial experience goes back to 2013 where he launched football specific skill development (Marvel Athletics) which propelled several athletes from the Brockville area to become Division 1 level players and highly regarded American prep school recruits. These programs have also positioned many athletes into scholarship positions while simultaneously promoting and producing well-rounded, educated student athletes.
From the age of 19, Zach has been actively volunteering as coach for the BYFA/RYFL as well as routinely acting in the role of advisor to the BYFA/Beckwith presidents. Beyond this, Zach went on to develop a mental health and mindset charity for young athletes in addition to creating a podcast entitled "Athletic Insights" where he offers free athletic development advice while hosting world class athletes most of whom hailed from the Brockville/Ottawa area.
