Melissa strives towards community excellence in all she does with her engaging nature and spirit to inspire collective action. She was born and raised in the area; this is the community she chose to follow her lifelong passion for helping others and to raise her young family in.

 

Melissa’s work has spanned a wide range of community services, which has included developmental, employment and business improvement initiatives. She enjoys living in a community where we have the time to learn from and understand how we can help each other. Raising a young family here highlights her commitment to the future of our community.

 

Melissa started her career in 2010 and has been a local Young Professional since returning from college in 2011. She is not a fan of sitting still for too long and that was proven when Melissa commuted to complete her BA in Psychology at Carleton while working full-time and running a small business. Following graduation she worked two full-time jobs and operated a small business to pay off student debt faster.

 

Melissa officially participated in YPN events starting in 2016, while working for the Employment + Education Centre, an active Brockville & District Chamber of Commerce member. In 2020 she was nudged by Pam, the Executive Director at the chamber to join the YPN officially with their board call in 2020, she took one of the two YPN Chair positions on the Brockville & District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in 2022 and is completing her second term. Joining the board of directors at the chamber has shown Melissa new depths to our caring community. Melissa has entered her second term and is the newest chairperson of the Membership Committee and a member to the Hub Committee, in addition to the Young Professionals Executive where she leads as a strong advocate for young professionals in the business community.

 

Melissa has a strong vision for the potential of the Brockville YPN and has been working hard to help us actualize it over the past 5 years
