Melissa is currently on maternity leave from her role as the Events and Communications Coordinator for Downtown Brockville (BIA).  She enthusiastically joined the YPN executive team in 2020 with the goal of further building our network. Currently, she spearheads our Social Media and Membership Development efforts. 

 

Melissa has been a local Young Professional since returning from college in 2011.  She is not a fan of sitting still for too long and that was proven when Melissa commuted to complete her BA in Psychology at Carleton while working full-time and running a small business. Following graduation she worked two full-time jobs and operated a small business on the side to pay off student debt.

 

After, when things settled and Melissa could wind down, she desperately craved opportunities for community connection and professional growth; this led her to use services at the Employment + Education Centre who immediately connected her to us! They also hired and employed her for a few years before she moved into her current role with Downtown Brockville. She participated in several of our events while also leading multiple area initiatives before joining our executive team. Now she helps coordinate those same events and more, as she is always looking at the next big way to support our community.

She currently sits on the Brockville & District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in one of our two young professional chairs. This ensures Brockville Young Professionals have a voice in the business community.

Melissa has a strong vision for the potential of the Brockville YPN and is eager to help us actualize it.
